Style: Viennese Seccessionist

Genre: political

Location: Secessionist exhibtion

In 1898, Viennnese Secession formed to simplify, distill, and modernize design. Moser's rigorous approach, Klimt's visual imagination, and the idea of sachlich(essential form) typified Viennese style. In this secessionist poster, an elegant and sensual geometry is combined with the integration of hand-drawn letters. Moser achieves dynamic balance in compositions of patterns through careful attention to line weight and color calibration. Flat patterns and extremely elongated formats exemplified the late nineteenth-century trend. The inventive type treatment and the division of space epitomizes Secessionist design.
