Johannes Gutenberg

A German goldsmith and printer, Johannes Gutenberg (1398 - 1468) designed a new form of book printing and the ground-breaking printing press that used the system of mechanical movable type printing, starting the Printing Revolution. His design led to the modern knowledge-based economy and the spread of eduction to the masses. Gutenburg's printing system was economically profitable for printers as well as readers and therefor contributed to prosperity in England. The system's use quickly expanded throughout all of Europe and eventually revolutionized the spread of information all around the world.
