Comic Books

Captain America was first published March 1941 by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. It was originally created as a patriotic push, usually featuring fights with the Axis powers of World War II. As expected, he was the most popular character throughout the war. However, this popularity was somewhat short-lived, as once the war was over, his need decreased. Not counting a small revival, Captain America vanished by the 1950s. In 1964, he returned as a sort of leader for the superhero team, the Avengers.

Although, regardless of it's history, the covers have all featured a color halftone process. This is only one example among an abundance of other comics, that have been in creation since around 1934.
